Public Cloud Services

U-M has service agreements with three public cloud services providers: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Microsoft Azure.

MiDatabase

MiDatabase provides shared or dedicated instances of MS SQL and MySQL, both of which can be easily accessed from the ARC computing resources.

Globus

Globus is a robust cloud-based file transfer service designed to move many large files, ranging from 10s of GBs to 10s of TBs. ARC is a Globus Provider for the U-M community, which allows some U-M resources to serve as endpoints for file transfers.

Locker Large-File Storage

Locker is a cost optimized, high-capacity, large file storage service for research data.

Data Den Research Archive

Data Den is a low-cost, durable service for preserving electronic data generated from research activities that allows faculty to store large amounts of data without paying continual, monthly rates.

Lighthouse (HPC Cluster for faculty owned equipment)

Lighthouse allows researchers to add their hardware to existing ARC HPC resources to take advantage of data center and staff resources.

Armis2 (HIPAA-aligned HPC Cluster)

The Armis 2 HPC cluster, in conjunction with Turbo Research Storage, provides a secure, scalable, and distributed computing environment that aligns with HIPAA privacy standards.

Turbo is a high-capacity, reliable, secure, and fast storage solution that enables investigators across the University of Michigan to store and access data needed for their research.
